I just sent this post to my younger brother (he's just starting his 70's) but (was) and avid canoe trip guy. He did the James Bay trip a number of yrs ago, but nothing since and I think he's concerned about his balance/stability now.
This type of 'balance enhancer' could really help in his situation and mine. It might allow him to consider getting in a canoe again, not for another James Bay trip, but for more of recreational canoe trip in the areas around Sault Ste Marie.

The crutches used are forearm crutches..
Very simple set up up and if you shop right it should be around a hundred and fifty bucks..
Bro in law is going to have 3 people and gear plus a golden retriever in his canoe for his week long trip in Algonquin...lol should be interesting..

Very nicely done DIY....thinking of kayaking one day and that would certainly be a good addition to a kayak....thanks for sharing.
