Got two five gallon pails full in under 2 hours.

A pail each for a buddy and I.
Sorry I can’t share where it was as it’s my buddies spot and I was invited.

What I can say is I have seen several reports of good catches of Smelt. They are running early this year so get out and get some.

Some nice smelt. I have been checking in Muskoka and so far I haven't seen any. What larger general area were you netting them? I'm trying to figure out just how much longer it may take until they show up. Shouldn't be long now that's for sure.

Ate some last night and did something different.

I marinated them in red hot then flour/cornstarch and fried.

Turned out really good IMO. Nicely different.

That sounds really good!

Nice job!
I haven't had a good feed of smelt in years.
I remember when I was a kid going out with my Dad, Uncles and Grandfather on Simcoe. It was a lot of fun (and of course staying up all night as a kid made it even better).

Missed the days fishing for them with my uncle back in the mid 70s.
Burlington Skyway Bridge was one popular spot.
