Has anyone been trolling at the mouth of the river and into the Lake? Any results? Has anyone been catching whitefish at the mouth? I got the boat ready today and Sunday and Monday look like they could be fishable days. Is the gate to the Park open so as to get to the boat launch ramp? Would appreciate any info. Thanks

Q. Has anyone been trolling at the mouth of the river and into the Lake? Any results? A. Yesterday there were several boats out of the Collingwood dock. Only one small fish landed. From shore, just as bad. Missed a couple of first-light taps, but nothing on. Talked/watched about a dozen guy from another location and also nothing caught. Water is still cold and the winds haven''t helped much for the boats to venture much out of the harbour.
Q. Is the gate to the Park open so as to get to the boat launch ramp? A. The gate is left open all year now; there is an "auto-pay" both that will let you buy a park pass. It's probably risky to skip buying a park pass - especially on a long weekend. No trailers there on Thursday pm, and didn't see anyone on the river yesterday pm.
The winds on Sunday (W 15 km) will give you some good rollers at the mouth; Monday (E 5 km) is probably better, but rain is forcast at this point. Good luck if you get out.

Hey Wilbur Thanks for the info. I was over by the Park a couple of weeks ago and the gate was still closed then. If I go, it will be Monday and that will depend on wind and weather. SDC

Fished at the Nottawasaga today. No Hits, no runs, no errors!! Dead calm all morning. Trolled the Bay most of the time between 6ft and 30ft. 3 or 4 boats were anchored in the mouth fishing for whitefish. Didn't see anybody get anything and they had left by 11AM. At one point I marked fish on the bottom in 15ft of water about 1km east of the river mouth. I anchored, baited, and fished for whitefish for about 30 minutes. No action. 5 or 6 boats trolling but didn't see anybody with anything or get anything. Surface temp in the river is 42 deg and 1/2 km out in the lake it is 37 deg. Water may be a bit too cold yet. Hopefully it will be a warm rain this week. Ticket machine is in operation at the park entrance. Launch ramp is in good shape, but water is flowing fast in the river.
