Fished out from the mouth of the Notty today.
Went out as far as 120 ft.
Fished high in the water column-fished low.
Ran long leads, ran short leads.
Used flashers on the line and even had a "naked" flasher down on the other rigger when I was fishing short leads.
Must have washed 15-20 lures, including Lymans.
Marked fish in the 90-120 ft area.
No hits, no runs, no errors.

Last time out before we head to Nova Scotia on vacation/see family.
Hope to fish for Mackerel and Striped Bass while away.

If I get a chance to post, I will.

Good to hear you got out again. Bad fishing is always better than a good day at work.

I've had a few skunked trips on GB this year myself. I got to wondering if switching lures up all the time and trying different depths might be hurting more than helping. So last weekend in owen sound I kept it simple lyman first thing in the morning and an NK 28 the rest of the day. I went 2/3 on the day we were able to get out. I think keeping it simple is sometimes is likely best. Anyways just some food for thought.

"AMEN" to 12 foot's post about keeping it simple. Play with depths, play with speed, play with lead lengths if you must but leave the old reliables in the water!! With the clarity of Georgian Bay waters, it is often best to leave the flasher and dodger rigs in the tackle box.

Hi SDC,
Sorry to hear the fish just didn't cooperate. It was still a nice day to be out..
Today I bought a few more trolling spoons, as you know I only have a handful in my tackle box.. Now I have 2 handfuls and a small flasher..
Have a great holiday!
Cheers,
Jerry

Hey SDC...Hope you have a great vacation!

as some have already pointed out.constant cahge ups is not always a good thing.

I will give you an example. I have 4 rods that have the same lure on them for the past 7 weeks. I had to replace the lures a couple of times but that color has produced consistently.

It often comes down to "tweaking" the speed and or direction of troll (currents) that generate the hits if you are marking fish.

I managed to get a 4, 6 and 10lb salmon all on Wednesday, the weather wasn't the greatest this year. Some days you would mark fish like crazy but no takers, then the windy days kept me on shore. After Fridays heat wave, I had enough, back home to the A/C.
