I started out with the MR300 (the small one for personal use) and have used it extensively over the last couple of years. As explained, it works well for your immediate area when you're stationary, and helps a little bit while you're mobile.

If you sit for greater period of time, like crappeeeman, or me now thanks to injuries, then you'll appreciate the Patio Shield model that offers a 15' zone of protection.

If you're in a boat, I can't really comment as I have no experience using it in a boat as I don't have a boat.

I used my Patio Shield model when I went out for walleye earlier this year and not only did it work for me personally it protected a friend who was 10' away from me. Not even a bite....except for the fish.

I have no doubt It works. Just to clarify, I hardly ever sit. Ask anybody, I stand almost all the time and move around quite a bit. For a guy that loves the outdoors, I am always afraid a spider will crawl up my leg and get me. LOL. It has happened before in the spring a couple times. I am not afraid of any of the animals I have come across in the forest for the last 5 decades......BUT SPIDERS......AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

We have a patio sized unit and have been impressed. I’ve also heard of guys using them spring bear hunting in comfort keeping all the black flies away. Speaking of which apparently they’re horrendous up around parry sound so if you’re headed that way pick one up!

Mine came in really handy on a couple of quiet evenings where the mosquito's were definitely swarming. Thanks to the tech, all the mosquito's ducked for cover near the water's surface, and not a single mosquito bite was had.

If you haven't gotten one yet, spoil yourself....it's worth it.
