Hi all. Took the boat out on the bog today. Lucked out landing a few skis and some largies. Had a heart breaker at the boat with what looked to be a 5 plus largie too. But anyways, to get to the question...

From what I understand, there are no pike on Scugog. But, from my knowlage. One of the Muskies I caught was a tiger. How could this be? Just curious as the internet research is not helping me and I'm super curious. Thanks in advance!

Nick.

Rounded tail and spots on Gil plate (Vs clear Gil plate) is why I think it's a tiger.

But also could be a vibrant barred Muskie.

Well you are back with a beautiful fish. I have caught around 50 muskie, and thousands of pike. I would say that is a hybrid. Having only caught one hybrid, (Balsam) I am no expert. Nice to see you posting a great picture.

Yes definitely looks like a Tiger Muskie (hybrid). To my knowledge there are no pike in Scugog. But haven't fished it in a few years and I wouldn't be surprised if pike get in there (if not already). They generally come in from rivers, creeks and locks OR someone could have 'stocked' them illegally.

Also letting live bait go in the lake could introduce pike in there, especially from folks trapping themselves.

Thank you all for the replies. I'm excited to have my thought of it being a tiger verified. This is my first ever Tiger in Southern Ontario and only second ever. Exciting moment.

Been 2 years since I caught Muskie. Spend my time fishing North Bay and Bancroft areas where there not as dominant (besides nip and a few other lakes). This was fun and motivates me to get more into Muskie fishing.

Another cool thing I noticed, when I was driving home, there was a full moon out. I wonder if that's why the Muskie bite was on. Went 2/4.

I’m sure they come through the Trent system down the Scugog river
