I made a trip to the Scugog river in Lindsay with the primary purpose to adjust my Livescope. I've been getting nothing but fuzz on the unit so I wanted to spend a couple of hours trying to figure it out. I watched numerous YouTube videos to get an idea of where things were going wrong because I could only use the Downvision. After launching, I spent a good half hour in front of a fallen tree in the river to get a good picture of it. Seemed like everything was finally working properly, so I drove down river for a while looking for some slighly deeper water to experiment. I managed to find a group of either bluegill or crappie sitting on a slight hump in the river and watched them for 20 minutes. Fascinating! I went to another few fallen trees and brush piles and caught a couple of small largemouth, then found a larger fish hiding in an isolated fallen tree. It was pretty cool watching it swim out to check the bait that I had dropped on it's nose, but never did commit to it. packed it up and headed back to the ramp. Back the trailer in as far as normal, drove the boat up but it wouldn't scoot up to the bow bumper, so I tried to winch it up and the winch strap snapped 4" from the hook. The bow eye was too far to reach with the safety chain, so decided to back the trailer farther in and try again. Got the boat re-floated, and it drifted away about 15 feet. Now I have a delimma.....do I go for a long walk in 3' of water in jeans and get them soaked, or just let the breeze bring it back to the dock. Decided to wait it out and it finally made it back to where i could grab my dock line and pull it in. I drove it onto the trailer again, this time up to the bumper, climbed out and attached the safety chain. Next delimma.....how am i going to drive back to Markham without the winch strap to hold the nose down? I got out my knife from the truck, but away the piece of the strap from the eye of the hook, threaded the end of the strap through the eye of the hook (after getting it wet first), tied a couple of "granny knots" and winched it up tight. getting the strap wet first, the granny knots held firmly. I got home with no further issues. At least my primary mission was accomplished, and the boat is back in my driveway waiting for me to get a replacement winch strap!!

Well you did it all out there Lionel. You got out on the water, got some fish, got a problem, and got it fixed and home again safe. Better luck on your next adventure sir.

I've been playing with the Livescope all summer....definitely a game changer. Just as much fun with the unit in the winter.
Glad you made it back safely!
The one thing that i found that was messing me up is the position of the transducer. If you have the perspective mount, make certain that the marks on the transducer and the mount are lined up properly for forward scanning. Mine was pointed more in an upward angle, so it was scanning the surface instead of forward.

Now that's an adventure!
Glad you made it home safely, hope you got the new strap in!
Have you ever thought about mounting the transducer on the side of the boat instead of the trolling motor?
A good friend with livescope believes the Elite BASS anglers will rig it that way as they are now limited to one transducer...
Again, glad you made it home safely!
I did get the winch strap replaced yesterday so I'm good for another adventure.
I had thought about mounting the transducer on a side stick, but decided against it because of launching the boat alone, I have to climb over the bow and that would cause me to probably lose my balance getting over that extra appendage. It's working fine now, being mounted on the shaft of the trolling motor. I just needed to adjust the settings and the "tilt" of the mount.
