Launched in Gull river, there was so much wind even in the river. Caught some bass and my friend caught two muskie. Beautiful fish, not monsters but great fighters. One was 37 inches, the other 38 inches. Went all the way into north Balsam and holy cow biggest waves I have fished in years. Decided not to stay out there after dark, better safe than sorry. It was so windy we got wet from the wave spray. My friend went home and I went to the south end and hid from the wind in the trees. Got wet again from the rain later, but it stayed warm and muggy. Caught some crappie and kept two rock bass to try, three smaller walleye released. Some of you have told me that rock bass are great to eat. Going to get some sleep and fish later. My legs feel like rubber from the rollercoaster boat ride on the waves last night. LOL.

This is one of the smaller walleye released, maybe 19 inches. Should be big enough in two years to keep.

Nice… Sounds like tough conditions.

Nice outing CM. That lake sure can get rough even in places you think you can hide from the weather

Thanks Fnh. It was interesting, that's for sure. Got a bit wet again tonight. It was raining again. Not hard rain, more like drizzle after midnight.

Thanks flexkk, hard to hide last night. Much less wind tonight up until an hour ago. Gave up early, very tired. And a musky showed up.

Wednesday night was great. Crappie and walleye but a musky spoiled the fishing about an hour ago. Wasn't very big, about 36 inches. Released around the same spot as the walleye from Tuesday night.

Some decent fishing the other nights but sorry to hear about the skunk. Do you think the best fishing is over for now with the colder temps coming? I think we are suppose to get down to -4 to -6oC tonight depending on location.

That's a good one, helped me wake up, thank you. You said previously you live close to Balsam. If I lived up there year round, I would never get a good night's sleep ever again.
