Checked out another small Muskoka lake for WF (have never heard a word from anyone about it but it was a small pretty lake and deep so figured there can't be that many places to hide out for fish and I can putter around the lake with a sonar pretty easily and get a feel for the numbers of fish. I was able to go over a few very promising locations and some less so and covered the lake fairly well even in the windier conditions (I was not using the kayak today since it was a family trip). I think for the 3+ hours that I was there, I marked about 5 or 6 fish and that was it! And two of them, I hooked and lost at the surface....both small SM bass about 12-14" long (nice jumps by both so they deserved to escape). Disappointed but maybe all the promising spots were not where they are this time of year as they are getting ready to spawn...so I have decided to give that lake another shot next September and maybe even ice fishing when patterns may kind of return to a non-spawning pattern. Such a pretty lake so deserves another shot at the "right" time of year. What was even more surprising was that lakers are suppose to be in there as well so making only 5 or 6 fish would have included anything so that means lakers were not in any numbers either.
