Knuguy and I decided to head out to a new lake today -- a small lake of 100 hectares in cottage country. Although highly developed, it is, nonetheless, picturesque, and despite all of the cottages, we had the lake to ourselves.
I had marked out two areas on my map that looked promising with sharp contours dropping down into 80 feet of water but, in the end, they proved to be unproductive. As we continued to explore the lake, we paddled over a large flat in 31 feet where I hooked a nice 3 pounder suspended just off bottom.
Throughout the course of the day -- a short day as it turned out as the wind really picked up just after midday -- we marked several other fish in water ranging from 30-50 feet but we just couldn't entice them to bite. Nevertheless, we had a pleasant outing and, as always, it was good to be out checking new waters.
