Couple of trips to Erie

Got out for a couple of trips to Erie recently with some success. Trying to pick calm days to head out has been a lot harder this year for me. Is it just me or are there a lot more windier days this year?….

First trip was a slow day and winds were moderate from the north which can be deceiving as it is flat calm out of the marina. Winds picked up and bounced around a bit until it was not much fun. Managed to boat 7 but kept 4.

Next trip winds were calm all day and the bite was on. Landed 11 and kept our limit of 8 (C2 + S6). Plus a couple of silver bass. Very surprised how hard the silver bass smashed the bait.

I just talked to another site member saying I haven't seen so many calm days on Erie this time of year there been at least days that I should have been out there and Friday I will be out there, so that should make 5 days if forecast doesn't change.

there are lots of small ones that is for sure. those are some nice fish.

Good haul, thanks for the report. Was that trolling? Didn't know silvers can be caught while trolling.

Yes, we were trolling. Most guys out there are trolling. But there’s usually a couple of boats closer to shore that are anchored/drifting. I suspect they are going for bass.

just can't seem to get out when we have the time due to winds or too hot

last outing was a smash fest on sheephead and ya for sure those silver bass smash it while trolling

just gonna keep trying
