Fantastic weather on Saturday. When out with board member to a new lake I have never fished that used to be a bastion for whitefish back in the day but now rumoured to be extinct. We set out to disprove that notion and expected an older population in the lake, meaning anything we caught would be big…. And we were right… every fish landed ended up being a new PB. These whitefish were TANKS! Most released as they were just too big, but kept a few for the smoker. We landed 11 from 8-2pm. Had to find them, but once we did it was game on. They were surfacing everywhere like salmon. What a day. One to remember. These are all pictures of different fish.

An unbelievable day that exceeded my highest expectations. This trip had been a long time coming, with our hope that the old remnant population of whitefish remained. As it turned out, they had been there all along. Credit to Nicholas for maintaining the belief that we would find them and making it happen. The average size of the whitefish caught were 25" and 5-7lbs.
