QUOTE (sabmgb @ Oct 13, 2024 - 10:07 am)
well i just assumed that the old engines like higher octane. my 50 year old car wouldn't even run on regular gas back in the 70's. so it has gotten high high test and stabilizer all its life. don't know if it helps in my small engines but they start and run every time i use them, so right or wrong I'm not going to change now. i'm old like most of my engines and i don't like change either.

Yup I have 38 small engines that run my property Maintenance business and they all get put into storage with stabiliser added. Never a startup issue.

lots of good info as usual......some other points

external tank....make sure you run stabilizer through the attached fuel line as SD says

surprise that nobody is fogging their engine.......I certainly do that with all my outboards

Just an fyi to you all.

You should ran stabilizer all year round in your boats. Most boat gas sits for long periods of time and experiences phase break down causing varnishes and to separate and build up on your parts.
Most users can fill a tank of gas and may not fill up again for weeks on end if not months end.
This is the cheapest possible insurance to make sure your boat always runs well. A big bottle of fuel stabilizer from Canadian tire will run about 15 bucks for the entire season if not a couple of seasons.
