Tried some salmon fishing for a couple of hours with some good stretch of weather forecasted. Searched for awhile without marking anything on the sonar, so made the move to a different spot I haven’t fished in a few years. Started marking fish, so set up lines and started trolling. Shortly after, dipsy rod gets a tug and fish on. At first, some nice weight and then kinda eases a bit, so I am thinking maybe a small salmon. Instead, I see this big walleye on the line. It was 26” and 7 lbs.

Next trip in the same area. After a couple of hours of trolling at around 2.4-2.8 mph and marking some fish here and there but no takers, decided to speed up to 3 mph. Shortly after, within minutes, dipsy rod fires off and this 4.5 lb rainbow is landed.

Weeks later, give it another go. Couple of hours of trolling and not a sniff. Kinda use to that on huron, with many trips getting skunked. Still marking but not as many as previous trips. Thought why don’t I go to where I first started out and marked some fish, a little closer to shallower water. Winds had picked up and thinking time to wrap it up soon, and see a rod sitting straight up that got tripped on the downrigger. Quickly reel and grab it and was lucky to feel some weight. Nice fight and land this 8 lb. coho. All fish caught on spoons.
