I expect to see some good fishing reports soon, from anyone who fished last night, or will be fishing the next four days. You can't ask for any better fishing weather than this. Last night, tonight and Friday, Saturday, Sunday will be beyond excellent fishing conditions in the Kawarthas. If you did not get out for some full moon fishing, there is still time to catch some big fish. Day or night, look for those fish to be very aggressive from now until Monday. If anyone is on holidays this week, you should have already had some great catches. I said in the spring this was going to be a great summer of fishing in the Kawarthas. From what I have been reading and watching from all over, my presumption of a great fishing season was correct. So where are all the pictures? Where are all the great fishing stories? There are thousands of people clicking in on this Fishing Forum and reading the posts. Let's see some more pictures and stories for those of us that are still in dry dock. LOL. The fishing is so good right now, you just can't miss. Good luck, and stay safe.

This is how good the fishing is right now. The chores can wait, the fish are hungry.

Looks like you are right, I caught my biggest walleye on my favorite lake in Kawartha four weeks ago. It was 25" and beautiful, released it of course. This weekend gonna be on the same lake, hopefully will catch one again..

With this full moon, fishing could be on fire, but for myself the last 2 weeks have been “crazy” good. Walleye, kings, coho, steelhead have been the rule.
Freezer is full, now turning attention to the upcoming deer(brown) season.
Sorry for not posting any pics, I have a bunch of them, but only share them with my close fishing fam nowadays ……

Yes I have heard from quite a few people how good the Kawartha fishing has been this year. Good luck on your deer season, and the fall fishing.

That's a healthy looking, big walleye. You should have no trouble catching more of them. I can finally start the count down to some crappie and walleye fishing. I don't care what happens, fish or no fish. It will be amazing just to be back on the water, in a few weeks.

I was on vacation from August 17th to August 25th and i have to say the fishing on Balsam has been terrible ,that does not mean the fishing is no good , it just means i have not had much success. The dog days of summer overall is were i struggle and it has not been productive. The weather definitely played havoc. The first Sunday 18th to Tuesday the north wind was bad and i really couldn’t fish much. This blew the cold front in. I went Tuesday to the south end of the lake and the water temp had dropped to 66 and 2 weeks prior it was over 81. 1 walleye and a few smallmouth was all i could get. Lost a few pike and a huge smallie. Things will improve shortly and the weather and water temps should stabilize. Luckily i have 2 weeks vacation at the end of sept early October, to hopefully get some fishing in. I have found that recently the walleye have not been in the weeds as usual and the bass have not moved shallow yet. Most of my success was late evening until dark. As for now i will continue to fish every weekend until the next vacation and hope things improve. Good luck to everyone out there. Medium diving crank baits provided most of my success.

That's a beautiful specimen, good on you for letting that one go. I haven't targeted them much on my lake in the Kawarthas since the spring but it may be time to get back to it!

Truth be told, this season has been pretty much like every other one....

I have consistently caught some bigs, both smallies and largies, on a variety of baits, both established and new presentations that I am learning about.

The number of 2-4lbs bass in the Kawartha's and in other area's I've fished is amazing, and I think the fishery is going to be doing well for a very long time.

As much as I would have liked to spend more time on the water...well, life happens. I get that chores may get in the way of fishing...but chores need to get done. My laundry is hung outside, so I have to make sure I'm doing it on days where the sun and wind can get it dry during the daylight hours. The rain we've received is awesome for our tomato crop....but it also means I am now cutting grass twice a week, usually the day before it rains...throw those things in with cleaning a house, cooking, grocery shopping, sealing the driveway, weeding and nurturing a large garden, making sure I get to the gym to stay fit, and trying to spend time with family and friends....well, it just all adds up.

I am fortunate enough to be starting a new job in a couple of weeks, one that will allow me to have evenings and weekends and holiday free....to try and space out all of the above...to make life a bit easier.

As much fun as fishing is...and it is...there is more to life that it, and I'm happy to be living the full life I have been blessed with.

Sorry if this post makes me negative....I guess I just see the world differently.

You don't sound negative at all. Life is a busy place. Fishing is a bonus. I have been waiting to fish since May 29th because of school and other commitments. Soon the day will arrive to get back out on the water, and catch some fish for a family BBQ. Fishing is my all time favourite, when time permits.
