Well finally made my wild grape jam today. Took couple hours thursday to pick, 7 hours friday to get off stems, 6 hours saturday to juice, and 4 hours to jar. normally takes day and a half, but ended up picking more grapes then I thought or they were juicer. Any I won't have to go back to get more for a second or third batch.

trying something new this year, I bought a steam juicer. I was out for a walk this morning and came across some wild grapes that were ripe, which is like 3 weeks early for where I normally get them. So decided to grab a bag from the house and go back to pick them and get to use the steamer for a test batch. I'm concerned about water in the juice diluting the juice so this is a good test before I go and pick a whole bunch and wreck it all. If it works it will make things a lot easier and not use as many grapes.

Hey Steve

Looks real good. Well done.

A number of years ago, Sandy and I harvested wild grapes and made grape jelly.

It was tremendous, with a great taste and flavor.

Haven't done it for years as we don't each much jam.

well I made the jelly from the steam juicer. You can see that there is a big difference in the colour, so expect the taste to be big difference as well. Will try taste test tomorrow when they are both out of fridge and on toast.
