Show some pics when you're finished I also own a 1 man recon and it's not the easiest to pull loaded with gear

Thanks for the input gents! I’ll be starting the build this weekend and will post updates as it comes along. Definitely going to be taking pointers from each of the posts you guys put up in the thread.

I think I might get the ABS building going and see where that takes me. Plan B is wood.

Cheers.9

I purchased FLAT ABS caps at Canadian Tire (make sure they're flat, not rounded. Home Hardware sells rounded caps, they're not suitable for this application), and then drilled holes through them to match up to the binding mounts. Then used the long binding screws to fasten them in, also added a washer on the inside of the cap to spread the load. Glued the ABS caps to 8" long 2" ABS chunks. I can't remember which board member I lifted this idea from, but it was an excellent one.

The rest of the sled is 1 1/2", so just slots right into the 2" ABS on the skis. I haven't had any problem with the legs popping out, but always thought if that became a problem I would just drill a 1/4" hole through each leg and use a nut and bolt to keep them secure.

Jesse

This is what what I did with my Recon.....I turned the 2x4's on their side, but that ended up a little high letting wind through....just had to add more snow around it to block the snow. I drilled through the skiis and used then used 3" deck screws to secure it and then used deck screws through the bottom of the tub with large washers to get a good grip.
