Fishing with your kids, Daddy Daughter trip

My daughter and I used to have an annual trip to Erie Pennsylvania. Over the years she went from using the spinning reel to using a centre pin. She became very proficient at it. Then life got busy. She got older and Covid hit. It’s been close to five or six years since we’ve been able to do that trip. Finally this year the stars aligned In between university and work, we were finally able to plan a trip together. Sadly, the rains didn’t want to cooperate and the water was low and clear for the first two days we were there. But we were smiled upon with rain on the second day into the evening and overnight. This gave the water, a small bump up and some colour and the steelhead came.

For that spot it was actually fairly open compared to how many anglers you normally have.
It’s not one of my favourite spots but it can be great when it rains. That system comes up super fast but also drops super fast. You have to time it just right and be there right after a rain.

always nice to fish with family. those are some nice fish.

Great report and pics. I hear you about the difficulty of timing trips with your kids as they get older. They get busier with more time commitments so if they can make it work it’s super important to make it happen. Good on you.

i have similar situations with my kids now.........it's really difficult to plan an outing and when we do the winds prevent us from going

those rivers in the usa have been hurting for some decent water flow for some time now

Some nice fish there, surely feels good getting back down there with your daughter and having success after a slow start

You just can't beat fishing with your kids. The fish are just a bonus. You're creating memories that last a lifetime is fantastic. More families should take your lead.
