Hey everyone. Wife and I just cancelled our Quinte ice fishing trip but would still love to catch some walleye before the seasons over.

What are the current conditions like? We have never been to Nipissing but would likely stick to the usual spots like Callander Bay. How's the slush? We will be walking out as well.

Thanks and tight lines!

Yesterday I had 4” fluffy snow on ice but haven’t checked today yet. Seeing 7.7 on the thermometer so can imagine some is starting.

Just off the lake. Very wet out there, not much snow left. There is a monster pressure crack running from Lonely north out towards the Manitous that has heaved in spots up to 3 feet so safe travels. Don't think there will be much snow left after today with the warm temps and bright sunny sky and then back in the minus 20's starting tomorrow night so will be a skating rink out there.

Bringing my ice cleats tomorrow.
Thanks for the update.

I still see mostly white on the ice so tonight’s freeze up should firm it up.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. Looks like the walk out shouldn't be too bad at least.

Has anyone been catching? Any keepers? Not seeing a lot of fish pics this year. Fishing with a slot size will be kinda new for us.

A family member just came back from fishing Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. They were with South River Resort huts. A few guys, for a few days, for a few fish. Apparently the bite was off at quite a few huts around them as well. No idea what the ice is like now, but he said it was 15 inches as of Wednesday. Maybe you can take some pictures. Good luck and stay safe when you go up fishing.

The couple of warm days did their damage to the snow cover. What’s left isn’t great slider lubricant but there’s a tiny bit of icey snow in some places. Slush looks to have frozen mostly. Temps dropping. Fish have been biting this morning…. On 12” of black ice with 4” of white ice on top of that.
