Sturgeon lake., Friday and Saturday night.

Sorry I did not post much information on fish location the first three nights. It was all over the place. Shallow to deep, slow and fast. There was just no constant with the wind changes. Friday and Saturday night was better to report on. Casting into 8 to 10 feet of water with a plastic bait 30 inches under a slip bobber. I never changed anything the last two nights. No crankbaits as to avoid another muskie. Pink jighead and Joker baits was the only bait used. Very slow retrieve again to avoid another muskie. The muskie really like shallow water at night in the spring and fall. So caught quite a few small walleye and small crappie Friday night.

Kept one walleye Friday night. This was just over 19.5 inches.

Saturday night I quit early again. Line freeze on rod and reel. Had lots of interesting size fish. A few dozen small crappie between 8 to 10 inches. Only caught 2 crappie over 11 inches which were kept. Beautiful crappie but almost all small like this one.

The same results with the walleye, most were small. This one was 13.9 inches but no way I keep a walleye like this. Just because the regulations allow this fish to be kept, you have to use common sense. Too small, too skinny, no meat on it yet.
Would be such a waste to take a fish that has not even had the chance to spawn yet. There was a few this size, you have to let them live to make more walleye.

Then there were a few around this size as well. Same thing, too skinny, not enough weight to warrant killing it. It will be bigger next year. It really sucks when I see people keeping skinny fish. It's just a waste of a beautiful resource.

I did keep one fat walleye and two fat crappie to go with the other walleye and crappie. It was a great 5 night adventure. Looking forward to getting out a few more times before the ice shows up. Now it's time to sleep and sleep in. Maybe sleep until Monday. LOL.

Well CM, I'm convinced your Joker/slip bobber setup is a good one, so I ordered both (the Joker and the slip bobber) online.
Can't wait till May 1 next yr. to try them out on Georgian Bay Walleye.

Thank you sir. Back home now, it was a busy 5 nights overall. Had a bit of everything last week. Wind, rain, cold, warm, and some calm peaceful fishing as well.

Thank you Flukes, always sad to leave the lakes. I was getting a bit tired after 5 nights though. I am not 20 or 30 anymore. LOL.

Thanks Fozzy. Georgian Bay is big water. You will have to try the back bays, where you can find some shallow water after dinner. Good luck next season.

Thanks TH88. My favourite dinner is a rib steak, but walleye and crappie are right up there. Everytime we are lucky enough to have fresh fish. It always seems to taste better because you caught it yourself.
