A bit of a windy morning. Three fish hooked but only landed one...a laker, which I guess is a good thing since it was the last day for lakers so kind of nice to get one to end the year. Lost the other two half way up (one was almost within sight). When I had to leave, the winds dies down....would have been nice to be out there on calm waters but... Gave the laker to our neighbours (a couple who are in their 80s and very nice and very active couple) but they said they really didn't know what to do with a fish (cleaning-wise) so I cleaned it for them...initially, I thought of just giving them skinless fillets without the ribs but not removing the pin bones (so they can bake up the fillets or pan fry them) but then thought if they really don't know what to do with the fish then they may not know about the pin bones so I cut the fish the way I would give to my little guy (boneless and skinless chunks of meat ready for some batter or crust of some kind). Lakers are closed on this lake but the whitefish (I much prefer whitefish over lakers for eating) are still open so hoping to get out a few more times before winter sets in

Nice fish John, glad you're getting a chance to get out more now and a lake trout on closing day is a nice way to end things off. Looking forward to your upcoming whitefish report before the lake freezes over!

Thanks all. I am just so glad I have worked out a way to get out fishing a bit here and there (some things have changed at home and major chores are more or less done) even if in the long run it's alot more work to fish only for 2-3 hours a day...at least I am fishing and I am trying to work on my 10 min. plan....10 min. to drive to launch, 10 min. to launch and be ready to pedal out there, 10 min. to get to spot, 10 min. and fish on. Whitefish report coming....see post
