My good buddy has a camp north of Sudbury. Every spring (when the blackflies are nice and thick) we head up and I help him take down in dangerous tree close to camp. Of course, we incorporate some fishing into the trip.

We started off looking for walleye. As usual, they were MIA. LOL
Fortunately the bass and pike were hungry. The pike were mostly smaller hammer handles (the biggest was about 2 lbs). The smallies were on fire though. In the course of about 2 hrs we landed double digits. The smallies were hitting like a truck! I normally release bass (not my favorite table fare), but we kept a couple of smaller ones for a quick fish fry.

The bigger ones were avg 3-4 lbs and fought like 10 lbers! LOL With the crystal clear water, we were able to see them in shallow. Surprisingly, we only saw two on nests, the others were just cruising. The ones we kept appeared to be spawned out already (which was also surprising).

It was a great weekend and good times!

Nice chunks! I’ll be chasing Quebec smallies in a couple weeks. Great fight in those!
