I shy away from those these days as unless you get really big ones then the bones seem to always wind up in the end product despite trying every approach of filleting…

Once you clean enough of them and know exactly how those pesky Y-bones run through the shoulder flesh it is a breeze to get boneless Pike. I am at a trailer park and give lessons on Y-deboning in our trailer Park....if in the Waubaushene area I would be more than happy to give you a crash course.
Even the smaller pike.....they are of fewer Y-bones and the bones are a little harder to feel with your knife.....I hold the knife in my finger tips for those eaters. That way you feel the bones much better.

Agreed, easily made boneless. and I eat pike so seldom, I have to watch a refresher video every time before I fillet them - maybe once every 3 or 4 years

cut a straight line down the stubble from the gill towards the tail...till you cant feel any bones with the knife tip.
Then turn the fishes back away from you and cut away from you following the bones.
then go to the lateral line....the slot on the inside of the fillet and cut away from you under the bones.
done
Please use a razor sharp knife. With practice you will be a pro in no time.
