Anyone have an idea of when is a good time to target Lake whitefish pre/post spawn, specifically for the kawartha region? I know Oct-Nov roughly, I am coming up to the area for a weekend in Mid-November, will I miss them on the gravel humps?

Spawn will be mostly over by mid November. Guys net them up here north of Kawarthas late October but by November the spawn usually done. Then herring spawn after. Lots of beach spawners up here, spawn at night then back to slightly deeper water during the day. They never go too far from the spawn grounds at any time of year. Just look slightly deeper. So likely still 30-50fow look around for big marks suspended off bottom. Jig small spoons and small vibratos. Immediately post spawn can be tough. First ice in December is easier to target.

Beach spawners eh? I'll keep that in mind, thanks for responding. I was hoping you'd see this Mykola as judging by your posts you really have nailed down this species.
So they prefer sandy substrate opposed to gravel up in the Hali/Kawartha area for the spawn, I'll have to change up my search.
