I use a strap from an old laptop bag, run it across my chest clip it with a carabiner behind me to 25’ sling to the skis. Strap is wide and padded so it never digs in. I used to clip the rope to the waist strap of a backpack. That also worked really well, but why carry a backpack when it can all be on the sled.

I use a 60" as well as the quickfish 3. 3 rods and reels tackle box buddy heater 5lb tank 2 chairs. It is a pain in the snow, I find it works when we are two to take the quick fish out since it has straps to be work on your back.
Will try and put together a smitty sled soon for these deep snow conditions
