Downrigger base mounts

Adult Trout Group: Members Posts: 273 Member No.: 10267 Joined: December 30, 2015	Hey guys, I got an old pair of cannon downriggers given to me for free. Trying to figure out what type of bases I need to attach to my boat. I’m assuming I need a piece that gets attached to the boat and a secondary mount that swivels? Or is there an all in one that will do the job? I tried looking online, but couldn’t find any bases that fit the mounting of these old Downrigger’s Appreciate the help.

Fry Group: Members Posts: 46 Member No.: 16189 Joined: July 26, 2018	I have never used Cannon, but in any instance, I would highly reccomend installing backing plates if installing on the gunnels to beef them up. I used 1/4" aluminum plates and just drilled matching holes from my base (Scotty is what I use).

Lunker Trout Group: Members Posts: 367 Member No.: 347 Joined: February 24, 2011	definitely need a swivel base. I would look if its possible to fit the old style cannon base on the scotty swivel. Scotty is the cheapest of all b/c its plastic. My friend had a big jon installed on a scotty base
