The sad thing is here is no one did anything about the speed boat. No one called OPP over the four years. No one wanted to be a rat. No one wanted to have a chat with the owner of the speedboat. Well now you have 3 dead kids because no one wanted to get involved.
We live in a society where people do whatever they want, whenever they want. We all have a responsibility to protect the innocent and if that means being a rat to save lives then that’s what we have to do.

So sad…
I could be wrong but the witness I believe has had conversations with OPP before and made reports. I did read about this in an article on the accident.

I kindly disagree. You have 3 dead kids because of stupid actions by the boat driver, not because of no one doing anything.
I’ve got several youth ripping up and down my road on dirt bikes. Doing wheelies past the house, back and forth, weekends, evenings, almost dark at dusk, etc. matter of time until one of them hits someone backing out of a driveway or just wipes out on their own. No insurance on non road legal bikes, acting like idiots
I’d be inclined to say it’s their own fault or their parents fault - not mine for doing or saying nothing. Not my job to monitor everyone else’s actions.
A terribly sad boating accident no doubt, let’s put the blame on those responsible, not on everyone else.
"On Wednesday, the OPP said it arrested 44-year-old Matthew Splinter of South Frontenac Township.
He’s been charged with three counts of dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death, three counts of dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm, impaired operation causing death and impaired operation causing bodily harm."

TERIBLE TERIBLE accident that could have been avoided by both sides ...when will people learn..
Here on the nottawasaga its accident city waiting to happen..high speed boats in no wake zone , jet skiis with no regard for others, in the recent past seems there was a fatallity between two jet skiis ..never heard much on the income on that one..
One long weekend day at nancy island witnessed a family of two adults and three kids in a 12 ft tinnie sail off ..not one pfd on anyone..
Really need to get some opp presence on our river , checking for operaters cards, pfds, and just maybe set up a few radar posts ..
Yes a rant but some thing has to be done to avoid further fatalities..
