well i plan on fishing monday, but will be home early afternoon so I'm not on the water during the eclipse . I don't know what kind of damage glare from the eclipse can do so I will just stay in side and hopefully be cleaning fish.

If I can get out, I think the fish will just jump in my kayak because they want to see the eclipse....I'll make sure the cooler is open and ready with ice to receive them

Everyone knows fishing is best at morning and dusk. Now we just have two sun rises and two sun sets that day!

It shall be done, kids in tow, with special glasses in hand…. And if we’re lucky, a trout in the boat.

This seems like the most likely scenario!

And here I thought I'd read it all, fishing during the eclipse, make sure your navigation lights are on if you're in a boat.

I've seen walleye really turn on just before a severe thunderstorm. The jig never reached bottom and wham! one after another.

Then the storm passed thru and nothing for days.

Fish feel atmospheric pressure but does an eclipse cause a change??

I'm looking at it that there are 2 sunrises and sunsets in one day and i don't have to get up early to fish one of those periods

it;s a win win

I like the optimism here I'll be out and in a prime spot for viewing. Hope the fish cooperate. Got my polarized NASA approved welding shield ready.

I bet zero change.

The entire eclipse lasts 2 hours from when the moon start to cover the suns to when it stops. The totality of coverage will only last about 4 minutes.

This basically means it will only be darkish for about 4 minutes. About equivalent to a really dark storm cloud blocking the sun for four minutes as far as light is concerned.

Atmospheric pressure can be affected by the cooling of the atmosphere by blockage of heat from the sun. Could this trigger a bite? Quite possible. I happen to believe the up and down instability will do the opposite, not in a noticeable way though as the event is just so short of a time frame.

Are these legit? Like actually strong enough that we don't hurt our eyes?
