Can anyone know a good all around rod and reel not too expensive for beginner?

Where and how will you be fishing for trout and salmon. Rod and reel choice is highly dependant on technique and location. Pier casting, bottom bouncing, trolling with a boat or river fishing?

For rivers, I use the browning six rivers series of rods, hopefully the hardcore river guys will chime in with their favorites -- but for me the browning is fine - i have whacked it on trees, rocks, bridges, jeeps and other fisherman and it's still catching fish - good enough for me. They cost around $100.

To keep it simple, get a nice medium size reel with a very good drag system, like shimano or pflueger. i have the shimano sedona 2500 and browning mediallion. Line i use 8lb on the reel, 4-6 lb fluoro leader.

You can also get into floating fishing and get a float reel, but they can be pricey.

Went out late Monday just before the rain started and not a bite. Guys said they were biting early morning.

I will be up early next time out.

Jerry, nice trout pictures you posted and hope to do as well in the future.
