All good advice so far.
One again, the key is to prebait an area.
if using corn, peaches and cream work best for me......and I alos like the float method.
this year I have been toying with a new formula bait.....and still refiningit, but it for sure works. It just is hard to keep on the hook.
raspberry jello, flour and cornmeal.....thye love it an for once the wife doesn't compalin about stinky things in the fridge. Someone actually was going to have some for dessert a few weeks ago.
Carp are very noise sensitive or vibaration senstive, so best to get to your area and sneak into it, then sit quietly and see them "tailing". then work that area.

James, yes they are fun to catch. Good fight for their size.. If you want to go sometime in the evening during the week, we can go, it's close by and very limited gear required..

Fishing the holland river for carp. I see them jumping but skunked so far, catching only catfish and sunfish. Thanks for the tips, maybe my luck will change.

Where did you see them WallyDiver? I tried the Holland river once for carp, last weekend. Near Bradford... I didn't see any and I chummed the area well... I didn't see any carp anywhere... I'm thinking of trying again tomorrow, but maybe closer to Queensville area...

I know the spot you guys are talking about.. Might give it a try... I know they are a pain in the A to get them to bite when they are spawning... will have to give it a go. if lightening stays in the forecast, I'll keep the boat covered and head there tomorrow. I drive a silver GMC Sierra, say hello if you see me.

Checked out that area in queensville today... Didn't fish... Lots of weeds and bass busting, didn't see any carp. Saw some dude with his kid fishin top water frogs... I had to walk away. I wanted to educate the guy and let him know they are oos... But I know me... I'll get confrontational in a hurry and I don't want my wife to see my ###### off throw a guy in the lake side of me... It took all I had to walk away and save this guy embarrassment in front of his kid and me being an aggressive a$$ in front of my wife... Now I'm not going to sleep well.
