Hello everyone; my father and I are planning on fishing Friday and I was wondering if an ATV or snowmobile would be better for travel. My last trip out with my father ended in disaster of getting stuck in slush. He is getting up there in age and had to walk 3kilometers back to shore that day so I am trying to avoid that from happening again. He doesn’t have too many more trips in him so I would like to make it a positive experience. Thank you for the advice

It is not too bad as the nights are cold enough to tighten everything up. Reduced snow and limited slush. But it can change quickly. As of now, either machine should be ok. I live on the South Shore and on lake most days

Did close to 100 km on the lake on Sunday and Monday from Fish Bay out to the Manitous across to the Goose Islands and along a big chunk of the south shore. Only saw one small section of slush.

Perfect riding conditions. +/- 3 inches of snow on top of hard ice. Either would have been fine and as stated forecast is good for the next week or so.

No slush from Callander bay to deepwater point. Good running today. Sled or wheeler will work.

Late travel Thurs night posed a problem with over heating for my buddy's 600EFI skidoo with the baby studs on the paddle ends. He was travelling off the hard packed trail but apparently wasn't throwing enough snow. I'm pretty sure scratchers are his next purchase. My fanner didn't have any problems with sliders.

I have a fan cooled sled as well. My dad and I had a great trip and ended up with 16 walleye and several perch between the 2 of us in a day and a half of fishing.Thank you guys for the good info.
