Went out on the St. Clair River yesterday for the first time targetting walleye with a local charter. Started out jigging a few different colours of 4” fork-tailed minnow soft plastics rigged on a 1oz jig. We had a few light bites before first light but the first fish didn’t come around until after sunrise. The stinger treble hook buried towards the back of the soft plastic was key for the light bite. Over the next few hours we landed 5 walleye from 20’-40’.

Around 11am we decided to pack up and switch gears to troll on the lake. Had a few hits in about 10’-25’ targetting coho fairly tight to shore. Passing some creek mouths and searching for stained water. We were running crankbaits, chartreuse seemed to be the hot colour for the day.
