I also want to say thank you for not being embarrassed to share this incident, sometimes a person does not have the courage to post an incident like this. By posting it you re-enforced the need to wear safety equipment and for the noobs you educated them......that is the positive side of this incident. I encourage others to share your ooops moments.

Thanks man. Debated whether to post the details and in younger days probably wouldn't have. Pushing 60 now though and have no problem owning fails just as fully as wins. Planning to get back in the saddle on Sunday. Solo again but won't be pushing it LOL.

I had a similar experience almost 10 years ago. went for a morning ride around a remote northern lake to get some fresh air after a late night at my friends cottage. almost didn't bother taking a helmet. exact same type of accident. almost stuck the landing but the left handle bar broke under my weight as I superman'd and I rolled off. separated shoulder but probably wouldn't be here if I didn't strap on my bucket

Picked up the Skandy today after getting it repaired/prepped for the upcoming season after the cluster#$%^ in February - $1800 - that'll learn yeah. Cheaper than a new head though - although guess i should add the cost of a new helmet as well LOL. To be fair a small part of that was regular maintenance.
