Trolled for 4.5 hours, marked hundreds of fish, usually in the bottom 20ft of the water column and never moved a rod.

Tried all the usual lures, so large, some small , different colors and ran at different speeds, all to no avail.

Tried the "watermelon" pattern as suggested by steelheader--same result as all the others. Ran a "slider" to no avail.

Nice day to be out, comfortable temp, fairly calm and good company with Harold.

We marked most of the fish 100 to 120fow as suggested by Krawler and most of them were SE of Meaford.

In the morning we were marking all kinds of fish--see picture, in a particular area. Went back there in the early afternoon and a blank screen. Whatever they were, they were gone.

Not much bait out deep, but we did mark bait in 40-60fow.

Anyways great to get the boat out for the first time in 2023 and my new tow vehicle 2023 Ford Escape, performed as it should.

Yup---good day for a boat ride, good company, got none of that stinky slime on the net or in the boat! I hadn't had a good chat with Ralph since the pandemic----so, all in all, good to get out!

Thx for the invite Ralph

Too bad the fish were not hungry. At least you had great weather and conversation. You will get them next time.

I was out Wednesday as well, but further south. I had the same result. Do you think the marks were salmon stagers that stopped eating? The water is still warm. Maybe next week will be better.

I would have thought it was a bit late for salmon stagers, but who knows?

The fact that the fish left the area where we marked so many, could have been stagers.

We went into the deeper water of what I call the "Meaford Bay Basin" and there was nothing there and that was what led us to go back to where we had found the fish earlier, only to find they had gone from there.
