I think Drew is correct. To be safe and not feel you have to be on guard all the time while fishing, fish by yourself.
It's harder than you think to find a fishing buddy that you can relax around, especially when things are slow etc, etc..
If you have a good fishing buddy, cherish him or her, theyr are rare.

Personally, I fish alone about 95% of the time, as my family isn't into it,sadly and all my old fishing buddies took up 'golf'...now that's crazy.

Cheers,

Thank you Fozzy. Love the solitude of fishing alone of course. Fishing with my best friend on Sturgeon or Balsam has always been great. Sometimes we talk, and sometimes we can fish in silence until one of us says, get the net.

A person like this is just an A$$****!
Whether he's driving, golfing, working, fishing or could you imagine being a restaurant server for a guy like this! Sounds like you handled it like the class act you are and now you know not to aquaintance yourself with him again.  At least the fishing was good!

PS. I do live on the lake and I didn't know I could keep what I want outside regulations! (what a grease ball).

MC

Thanks Mastercaster. That's funny. Ya, apparently you can do whatever you want on whatever lake you live on. LOL.

Glad you’re back out and on the fish again! I try to keep a distance from most people these days, I’ve got no time for bs. At least you know who not to fish with now and you can enjoy out fishing him for years to come!

Thank you Jay. I just got lucky with the fish at the back of the boat. But this guy couldn't be successful on the water if he tried. He must be a lot better at business than fishing.

Yikes - people suck 100%.

I fish for the quiet like most here. I like taking my daughter and once in a while a old timer. Still learning every time I'm out.

Thanks as always for the post.

Thank you sir. That's what it's all about, teaching the children and learning from the senior guys. Nothing is better than experience. Some of these guys that have been fishing for 60 or 70 years can just whistle, and the fish start to bite.

Haha ya I learned a long time ago you don’t need to be rich to catch fish. I remember guys looking down their nose at me many years ago for having crappy tire brand waders in the river. Then as time went on for not having a fancy boat. Still catch lots of fish though and probably have more fun! About another week of salmon fishing for me then I’ll be headed up your way to pigeon lake for a weekend which I’m really excited for, even though my skills on that lake are sub par! I just like being out there, I enjoy it, like everyone that fishes should do……just my two American cents

Please don't insult golfers like that. I just got of the golf course and will be fishing probably on Friday. You can do both.

Already deleted and replaced with something else. I love golf too, what was I thinking. Unfortunate that I can't play any sports because of my left shoulder. Throwing a football, basketball, baseball, tennis, bowling and golf etc. are out because I am mostly left handed. But very fortunate to have fishing as I cast and write with my right arm.

I'd go out for one more fish with the rich peckerhead, but about 45 mins before we left the dock I would choke down a skillet of fried onions, and two large whey protein powder shakes. Ten bucks says we'd be back at the dock in under one hour, and I assure you he would have vomited several times in his expensive boat.

Actually I think I was wrong. Woke up today with a thought. I will go visit him next time up to the lake. He may just need some advice from a friend, instead of criticism. Maybe there is a nice person behind the insecurity. Can't hurt to try, first impressions can change with a second glance.

Thank you Arnie. I found this chart to help me identify birds. It will come in handy when I fish by the trees. LOL.

Hopefully the next time will be better.

It's one thing to have toys...it's another to use them well.
