Rhubarb muffins and stew

Well it is that time of year, well it now appears to be the last time. Rhubarb came on strong, but seems to have ended early this year. Anyone else having this issue? I normally have fresh rhubarb for my strawberry rhubarb pies, not this year unless it starts up again which I doubt

Are you pulling the stalks correctly? If you do, the plant regenerates more stalks.

We made rhubarb cake and have plenty more stocks to harvest over the summer.

yes I pull them properly or at least how I been doing it for years, Just strange how I went from what appeared to be the best year I have ever seen to done before strawberry season, Few years ago I was pulling rhubarb right to the end of July, I actually just stopped as I was afraid I might hurt the plants.

Visited my local farmer yesterday who has lots and lots of rhubarb.

I got 9lbs of very nice rhubarb, which has now been cleaned, diced and frozen for future "stewing".

She would let me have it for nothing, but I always give her $10.00 as a token gesture. Much better than paying $6.00 lb in the stores.
