Hi again forum members, It's with great sadness I must say the ice fishing season is over. It was brought to my attention this evening that a person had gone through a local lake in Severn township.I myself was on this lake just a couple of days ago.At that time the ice was only 4+ inches and not of great quality. While I called it quits at that point others continued to give it a go. The person that went through the ice today actually spoke to me on the Coldwater river earlier in the morning. He asked me about the Lake and I informed him it was very sketchy and likely unsafe at this point.I told him to spud out if he was going to give it a go.He responded he did not have a spud bar but would drill holes as he walked out.Unfortunately some people don't take advice very well. Most unfortunate for him,I do hope he is OK and this turns out just to be an expensive and educational lesson.Here are some pictures.

Wow Dale......glad you called it a day......and yes I hope the gent you were talking to is ok. Thanks for sharing with pictures might be a better warning for others that going through the ice is for real.

Wow. I know that lake as well and he looked quite far from the access. With the rain coming tomorrow night and for most of Saturday, that lake will be toast for sure....it also has some current not too far from the access and with the rain, that current will be stronger. Hope they got him out in good shape. My last ice fishing trip, I decided to take only my spud (no auger). I fine the spud much more useful for feeling the ice and I knew there were lots of holes drilled in the area I was going to fish with temps that were not too far below zero the night before so opening up these holes with the spud (or a boot) would be quick.

Yes that's THE LAKE, and people are fishing for CRAPPIE on that lake. As one of my fishing buddies told me last week "I ice fished a lake in SEVERN and landed SEVEN crappies" :-)
PS: I thought THIS LAKE is NOT within Muskoka Region (District Municipality of Muskoka), it is outside of and south of Muskoka Region?
