Got tired of replacing AA batteries in my Trail Cam. I soldered in a bell multi strand wire and attached it to a 12v rechargeable battery. Removed the AAs. 8 AA = 12v. A solar panel could be wired in to the battery to keep it charged but the capacity of a 12v should last a long time. Too much time on my hands I guess.

That's what I use, probably go 6 months without running out of power. If you had a small solar panel, maybe 5 watt or so, well you will run out of SD card space before power.
