Well, my 3 yrs. Of history with this deer has finally come to a conclusion. Somewhat bittersweet, he kept me on my toes, outsmarting me many times with his cat and mouse movements.
But on Sunday morning he made a deciding bad decision to come into my clover plot at 8:00am. Out at only 25yrds , I had to wait for 10 minutes before he cleared the white pine boughs that were protecting him for a good, clean shot with my 10pt xbow. That little bit of time, actually calmed me down, just needed him to move a little more left for a clean ethical shot. When he did, it was dirt nap time. After a 2 hr wait, started tracking the blood, with my trophy at the end! Got very emotional at this time, giving the history I’ve had with this buck. With the warm weather, I had to quickly get him field dressed, out of the woods, and to the cooler. Here are a couple pics……

Great looking buck with the split G1's!
Thanks for the motivation, I will try my luck at a buck this weekend.

PS keep watch for a big buck that will come in and take this guy's former territory, you can start scouting for him later in the season, next year, or 3 years from now

I got one this morning but he is not in that class. Congratulation on a fine buck. When I dropped mine off at Leskas at lunch the truck said 30 degrees C.

Congratulations on your beauty of a buck. Must be a bitter sweet moment for sure when you have followed his movements for so long. That will make the steaks taste just that much better. Happy hunting

Thank you fellas for all the wonderful comments! I’m now in search of another worthy opponent, or doe for the freezer. Good luck to all, who enjoy prodding the woods as much as I do!🙂

May have found one!!

Great buck and a great story. Good on you for keeping your sh!t together and making the shot. Sometimes the more time you have onveste the harder that is to do.
