I'll be up at a friend's cottage this weekend in Muskoka on Rebecca Lake. The MNR data says they've been stocking lakers for decades and that there is a portion of natural population too. I've seen pictures of decent lakers caught while ice fishing so I know they're in there! Where would you guys start searching for those elusive summer trout? I'll have access to a little tin boat but no electronics. Luckily there are Navionics charts so I can get a general sense of where I'm at while out there. Here's the lake on the charts:

I would start on the right side of the map . Where is shows 80 feet deep but on the 60 foot hump

Use Vibrato's or White swim baits
once in a while start reeling the swim bait up to entice chasers to hit

Look for big marks 25-50fow suspended or in bottom, may end up finding the whitefish. I’d fish the first shallower bowl and park right in the middle and jig half way down. Lakers roaming that flat will see your bait. East end basin also looks good on the 60ft hump.

Thanks for the tips! The hump at 60 FOW does look like a good place to start.

I'll report back about how it goes

Well... the hunt for lakers was an absolute bust!

Without electronics it was damn near impossible to stay put on the locations I had pinned with google maps (unsurprisingly). The wind was blowing hard for the time we were out there which didn't help either. We trolled some spoons on a 3-way swivel with heavy weights and jigged with some plastics but found no success.

The bass, however, were more than willing to play. Buddy's cottage has been in the family for generations. His pops says he's never seen bass the size of the ones I caught anywhere on the lake - and I nailed all of them right off their docks or from shore Everything was caught on a floating jerk minnow with 4/0 hook.

I only weighed the dark one and it was right on 4.5 lbs. HUGE for a little Muskoka lake.

This one had me laughing hysterically - caught it right next to my wife as she was swimming and she did NOT love that
