yes it is a river very good that you figured that out strangler. It is also a river that freezes over. I think water does that when it gets cold :s weird eh

it freezes over every year. They used to run the school bus over it from byng to Britt, but now thats frowned upon.

Plenty of ice fishing done on rivers The Red River in Manitoba likely gets as much action as Lake Simcoe . I live within minutes of the Mag lad and there is ice on it here but the area your asking about is way to the west of me so I can't help you with first hand knowledge Sorry and good luck . Please report back .

Ok thanks trapperdirk! I guess i could have been a bit more precise of where on the river . I only think of where my cottage is. Im hopefully getting up there for a day or two this week depending on the weather as I got no hut up there. Will be going out from sawmill lodge in byng. (friend owns it and is not public)
I'll put a report up If i make it up! hoping for some big eyes!
