What really makes me sick is the species stocking approach in the Great Lakes, especially in GB and partially in LO.
Look at the map here.
http://fsis.glfc.org/stocking/events/2022/I heard a long time ago that MNRs from both sides of the border switched their stocking program from salmons to lake trout despite the big outcry from all interested parties (anglers associations, native communities).
I knew about it but when I looked at this actual date - it was really disturbing.
The argument that lake trout is native while salmons, with exception of atlantic, are not does not make any scenes to me.
Lake trout has slower growth rate, much more subjected to accumulation of all kinds of contaminants and less palatable for most people. So why?
