Plenty of ice fishing done on rivers The Red River in Manitoba likely gets as much action as Lake Simcoe . I live within minutes of the Mag lad and there is ice on it here but the area your asking about is way to the west of me so I can't help you with first hand knowledge Sorry and good luck . Please report back .

Ok thanks trapperdirk! I guess i could have been a bit more precise of where on the river . I only think of where my cottage is. Im hopefully getting up there for a day or two this week depending on the weather as I got no hut up there. Will be going out from sawmill lodge in byng. (friend owns it and is not public) I'll put a report up If i make it up! hoping for some big eyes!
