True North Airways Fly-In Fishing

Hi all, has anyone been with this outfitter? We're thinking of going next summer. Any and all opinions would be helpful.

There fly-in camps don't look that remote. They are in a very heavily used area. Some of the lakes are so close to hwy 144 you'd probably here the traffic! I highly doubt they would be fly-in exclusive. Probably easily accessible by ATV trails off 144.Wouldn't be my cup of tea.

What species will you be chasing ?

Short portages from vehicle access lakes with road access will take you in to most of their lakes eg. short portage from Onapping takes you into Scotia without paying an outfitter for a flight. I guess if you're happy with tenting it.

Same story as always is there decent fishing in those lakes????

We looking for Walleye and Pike.

Main reason for this outfitter is it's a short drive for an older fisherman who doesn't want to do a long drive or a long flight in a bush plane. Back issues!

Go to Wawa or Whiteriver Not much further, if he can handle that.

I've been once here with my friend and he's been back four more times. Absolutely insane fishing. You can catch walleye on plain lead jig heads! Two of us fished 9am - 430 and we caught 146 walleye and 11 pike. The food at the lodge is fantastic. Fantastic shore lunches. Air time is less than an hour. Book now if you want to go. They fill up fast from repeat customers. Boats are nice - 20hp electric start Yammys and Helix 7 fish finders.

Yes Arnie. It's definitely a place you want to go if you want to catch walleye! Nothing huge, but non-stop fat 2-3 pounders, literally as fast as you can get your line back in the water. We only fished two days when I was there and I can honestly say I was tired of it after the first day (can't believe I said that!) . Some parties of four will honestly catch close to 1000 walleye in a four day trip. We went in late June. Apparently the fishing is pretty steady the whole open water season. The lodge owners are great. Live release is encouraged and they ensure that possession limits are adhered to. The productivity of this big shallow lake is incredible. If anyone is planning on going, make sure you bring ten dozen worms in a cooler bag with ice. And lots of 3/8 and 1/4 oz jigs. The ones that I found worked best were plain ballhead, bright gold head with the big holographic eyes on them. They do sell them at the lodge. It is not a deep lake. You're usually fishing in 8-12 feet of water on gravel shoals. You can buy minnows at the lodge but you go through them pretty fast. You do not need a pile of tackle. I had a few Husky Jerks and raps for pike but you'll also get them on the jigs. A bag of 3" twister grubs are good to bring but I never used them. Bring a good pair of longnose pliers . Just a hunk of worm or minnow on a plain jig head is what I used 90% of the time. I had some fancy bucktails with me that did catch fish but the plain jig seemed to work better. I believe there are two other lodges on the lake but we never saw any other boats. We fished maybe 5-8% of the lake. Didn't have to explore as the fishing was insane right by the lodge. Their boats, motors, and fish finders are top notch. No junk. You WILL NOT leave there hungry! Man the grub was good!

There is a heaven on earth.......that is almost unbelievable. How can you not enjoy what you just described. Thanks for posting this thread and the great eye witness report.
