I will coming up with some friends Friday for our annual week at West Arm. I know most of you are Walleye fishermen but was wondering if there has been any Musky action? Are they still in their summer locations or has anyone seen any move into the shallows yet? Also, is there anywhere near west arm lodge to get suckers? TIA! Tony

Check out Memquisit’s website. They’ve been murdering them on the WA for the past month. One of the best seasons there for numbers that I’ve seen in recent years. Even catching them off their docks and in their harbour. Tons of prey options in the thick dense weed flats (bass, bullhead, suckers and perch). Weeds and cover is still at it’s greenest, healthiest, oxygen producing summer max. No dying weeds, as yet, so no bait fish movement out of the shallows at this time. Should still be tons of lunge shallow, and then on the deeper weed covered structure there…for close to another month yet. The mouth of any of the natural spawning bays throughout the WA, and West Bay are really hot this time of year.

Just got back from Nip, spent about 4 and a half days up there. First half day of fishing we landed 7, missed 5. Second day I believe we put 3 in the boat. Monday the winds picked up, fished some sheltered stuff and landed some really nice pike (39.5, 38 and 37) but said F it and hit the big lake. Glad we did.. No one else out there with 4ft rollers but landed the biggest fish of the trip at 53in along with 3 others in the mid to high 40s. Only 2 fish came trolling, all the rest were casting. Looking forward to next year.
