Got out today...late, with the family and only spent about an hour-ish at a few ice fishing spots puttering around looking for fish since they looked to be decreasing alot in numbers in the spots where they were pre-spawn. Had only 2 good marks (and maybe another; did see some large bait balls and tried - no interest at all). Water is definitely colder now. We came in when the wind started to change and were back well before the winds increased. Maybe one more soft water trip left for me this year and then storage and getting some work out of the way as I wait and prep for the ice.

Nice. Yesterday Sunday I fished a lake in Minden area looking for herring, but installed hooked into a big laker but lost it half way up, and that was it.:-) It was really really cold on the water, but I am hoping for another kayak fishing trip, or two before I call it a season...

At least you had some action. But it was a nice day to be out on the water with family and to kind of close out the season (that's what it felt like on the lake yesterday....like it was time to end the season). I was hoping for another trip but I think I am done for the year given the forecast (enough wind today, tomorrow and Wednesday to make it not inviting and then it gets colder and wetter so....). I think I will keep the kayak out still until Wednesday just in case the wind forecast is wrong but I think I am calling it for this year. A good couple of months and very important information for me for next fall when I can get back to the quiet fall WF fishing. Of course, I still need to figure things out for the ice season. Then there is the spring too. Not a fan of summer fishing in the canoe or kayak (far too many bad power boaters who like to go way too fast near non-motored small crafts out there). Good luck if you are able to get out again. Hmmm....maybe I should think about visiting a tiny, sheltered lake?
