Disco, I have to disagree with you. Silver bass are completely different than white bass. I have caught many silver bass and many what I used to call white perch, but have now call white bass as it was pointed out to me I was wrong. But between silver bass and white bass there is a big difference not just a nickname.

Disco is correct. White Bass is the correct name. Silver Bass is a "nickname". People down south here also call White Perch "Silver Perch".
Same as people calling Walleye "Pickerel".
Ling and "Burbot"
I'm from Southern Ontario as well, and I know everyone calls them "Silvers", but they are indeed White Bass.
