So I found a spot to launch from and spent the morning playing with the kayak and the salmon equipment between Cedar Point and Christian Island......marked a few salmon but there were no takers. I got out a little late and it was pretty sunny. There were a million bait balls.
I got about 500 feet from shore and felt my life jacket missing.......crap looked and not on the kayak.....I wont go in a boat without a jacket on. Back to shore and searched my car....crap left it at the trailer. I was on the reservation, the woman that looks after the ferry seen I was packing up to go home. Spoke to her earlier and she knew it had been a long dream for me to go salmon fishing and the day was perfect. Told her I forgot my jacket and had to go back to my trailer..... a 45 minute drive. She offered to look after my stuff but I said I had to much invested in my toy to leave it lying on the beach and thanked her for her offer. Then she found a jacket in her pickup and offered me that.....unfortunately it was a children's jacket. While I continued to pack up she asked the ferry captain if I would be able to borrow a jacket......against the rules. I continued to pack up.....then I heard a yelll from her saying she had gotten me a jacket. What a big hearted woman I found that I am now proud to say she is a true friend. She canvassed the line of cars going to Christian Island on the ferry and someone had a adult jacket for me and when done to leave it with the woman that got it for me. Simply amazing what she done for me. I gave her the parking fee back with a handsome tip and thanked her 100 times for saving my day. I did get some nice pics of the area and will post those......sorry no fish boys n girls
