Main part of lake is 3-4 inches. This is out from touchstone. I don't think the snowmobilers really know what ice thickness is. There just riding and following tracks.

Don’t ever follow tracks on that lake! When I was a teenager we used to skip the narrows and all the bubblers on purpose. Not smart but fun at the time. Tracks will lead right into open water. Only follow foot tracks or atv!! Followed a group of friends one night about 20 years ago across the narrows in the dark and crossed over 200 feet of open water with no warning and no floater suit, just pure luck and a formula Z that was like a sea doo! Super lucky and gives me chills sometimes just thinking about it. Muskoka bay and the big lake are connected by the narrows with current and open water or thin safe looking ice, and the mouth of the muskoka river and the hoc roc river near taboo/muskoka sands golf is a sketchy place too!

Was out this week on Muskoka. There was more ice than expected in spots but less in others. Inconsistent with layers of white and slush before the clear ice. Definitely be careful with the snowmobile tracks, I see the lake daily and seems like snowmobiles driving on ice that was open water a few days earlier.
