One thing I forgot to mention is how easy this thing is to load and unload especially with reverse.
I have a truck and I use a single atv ramp and she crawls up and down it so slow and controlled it is excellent. If I’m too lazy to get into the back of the truck to start it I’ll flip the handlebars down and drag it down the ramp.

That’s the big draw for me... no trailer. My pick up would look good with a dog in her bed! Hahaha

Great walk through!

I watched the same video and it really caught my interest.

I have to ask... have you passed by any OPP while buzzing around, and if so, any comments from them? 😁

Unfortunately I haven’t had the chance to interact with an enforcement on the machine. I will have it on Simcoe this year for the first time and I’m sure I’ll get stopped. Always do it seems lol. As far as the reaction from fishermen, it’s hilarious everyone is like wtf

Love it!

Can’t wait to see these things buzzing all over the place. I have no doubt this is just the beginning of ice evolution. A few years down the road I expect to see as many SD type machines as snowmobiles.

Good on ya for the build!

Well it's not like these things are a new invention, remember was I was about 10-12 years old there were a couple of these around. Bolens Husky

Well done on this awesome build.

Looks like a great project and even better when you take it for a spin.

Lots of satisfaction right there.

Glad everyone likes it it’s worth it’s weight in gold but I do not know exactly how much it weighs. My guess is around 200 lbs.
If you do manage to bury it in the snow it is very easy to get unstuck usually just by stepping out of the towed sleigh and rocking the handlebars left and right and applying throttle and jumping back in when she’s going again.

Here again for an update on the homemade dog.
While enjoying some holiday time off work, Swampy and I have had enough free time to take snow homedog 2.0 from donor to testing stages.

I’ll include a few “in the making” photos

This dog is made out of an old kawi drifter, incorporates a reversing transmission that also does 2.37:1 gear reduction and a small Honda GC160 5hp with a simple centrifugal clutch. Top speed is lower than that of our other dog but this one has ample torque.

We were able to load the dogs on the truck and go for a drive to a lake within a few km. While we did wear helmets to drive to our spot once we got there we took them off and played around a little. This new machine towed 2 grown men to and from our fishing spot with ease being as it was mostly glare ice and water.

This wasn’t Simcoe it was up north

However the fishing trumped the dog rides when we got to our spot and the screen was lit up for what seemd like better than 30 min and we were able to hook up With a small bunch of decent fish in not a lot of time. We escaped in the rain this afternoon.
